So Friday 30th September 2016 was the big day for the Government’s announcement on rateable valuations for non-domestic properties.
Around us in Northchurch, Berkhamsted, Chesham and Tring, we have seen rather mild increases overall, but different places have shown massive uplifts or conversely sharp drops. The North seems to have a better deal than Southern areas.

What does this mean for business generally?
Well, take a look at the Government website and see how you have fared. Just enter your address or postcode and the page will give you your current valuation, the 2017 draft valuation, previous valuations and similar property valuations.

These come into force from 1st April 2017, but there’s nothing like planning ahead, particularly if you need to question the valuation or you may need to change your budgets to allow for any rises.

There do appear to be some anomalies in the valuations so check carefully especially going back on the previous figures. The areas around Dibden, Dibden Purlieu, Hythe, Marchwood, and even as far as Lymington, Lyndhurst and Totton in the New Forest, all seem to have interesting variations from previous valuations, with some quite large swings, sometimes up, sometimes down.

BAS Associates will help you budget for any changes, as we can offer business plans, full accounts and management accounts and business support for startups and growing businesses.
